Some teams have indicated that they are bringing along a support crew. On a race through some incredibly rough and narrrow roads that is as well supported as the Tour there is no benefit in bringing along a support crew.

Due to the closed roads and the zone of exclusion only ambulances and authorised motorbikes are allowed anywhere near the riders. Your support vehicle is not going to get authorised. There is simply no opportunity to have a vehicle support you in this race. Nor is there any real need to be supported. The Tour provides water stops every 30kms, three meals a day and medical support.

The other big issue for you is that any vehicle not directly involved in the race must leave each morning at 06:30am or after the last vehicle in the race convoy. The PNTL (Timor Police) are under very strict instructions to ensure that this convoy plan is adhered to and the car free zone is enforced.

The last issue to consider is that unless you are a rider or a member of the race crew or have paid an equivalent race fee ($300) then you wont be feed or housed by the Race. The logistics for this event are huge (and difficult) and we have planned to a set of very strict numbers. We cannot allow additional “helpers” to just come up for a feed or two.

If you have someone coming over with you and you want them to travel with the race, then their best bet is to volunteer and become part of the Race Crew. It wont be a holiday though, as they will be given a variety of tasks to undertake each day, but you get to meet a great bunch of people from all over the world and can camp each night with your team. These tasks can range from manning an Aid Station, working in the Timing Tent or setting up a campsite to many other great jobs. If you are interested please email Lynn at lynncmoore@hotmail.com

Firstly apologies for the delay in opening entries, we are almost ready to go, however we had to wait for some good news developments from one of our fantastic airline sponsors. We will definitely be opening entries on MONDAY 7th June at 12 o’clock AEST. We are using Event Director as our entry booking system through our website and all entries are for individuals. You can enter a team name if you have a 4 person team and team type (M/F/Mixed) however this isnt a neccesity for your entry to be accepted.

I have just returned from a review (recon) of the proposed course. Whew, this course this year is tough, a few hills, lots of fun downhill and some absolutely jaw dropping scenery. The distances will be slightly shorter but I think you will be grateful for that. The terrain is moderately undulating (5-1550m ASL) and the roads are rougher than some of the tracks we have found. It will be a lot of fun. Bring your cameras.
