Medical

All participants in the Tour de Timor, including riders, supporters, volunteers and race crew are encouraged to take out appropriate Travel Insurance. For riders, you are encouraged to discuss medical insurance support from your national cycling federation.

The Tour will have medical support including 2 x Doctors, 2 x Nurses, paramedics, and first aid personnel. Allied health support will include physiotherapists. Ambulance support will be strategically placed at various sections of the daily stage. Aero Medical Evacuation (AME) is available for critical injuries. Medical support will also be available at the end of each stage with a triage nurse and medic.

Due the difficult nature of the roads and tracks, in most cases of injuries immediate support will not be available and riders are encouraged to provide first aid support to the best of their ability. Time spent supporting other riders will be recredited at the discretion of the Commissaires and Race Director. The level of medical support in Dili is adequate to good. Riders should carry a small first aid kit in their kit bags, including their personal medical requirements, painkillers, a small quantity of band aids and tapes, blister kit, disinfectant hand cream, chafing cream and rehydration powder. The Travel Doctor has excellent first aid kits.
