Dili, 29 June 2009 - The vistas below await the competitors of the Tour de Timor. The race will be one of the most challenging of your life though the surrounding beauty and roaring crowds in the villages will inspire each rider to achieve their best and have a great time.
Some of the easiest terrain will be along the North Coast on Day 1.
The shepherds and rice growers will be amazed to see and support both International and National teams. You will cross this bridge at Laleia, which is 2/3rd the way to Baucau.
Beautiful Mountain views like this will be both cruel and kind on Day 2.
After completion of day 3 why not take a dip in the ocean at Betano to freshen up?
The many signs of Timorese struggle for Independence are evident throughout the country.
Dili - 25 June 2009, Timor-Leste National Riders are training hard for the Tour de Timor. Timor-Leste riders combat hill climbs with relative ease.
A Timorese competitor negotiates the mountain passage near Aileu during the 'Ride for Peace' race from Maubisse to Dili held in November 2007. The accustomed Timorese riders smashed International opposition taking out the top 9 places.
Little Jose from Manatuto says "bring it on" to International riders!
The stunning Maubisse Church will greet riders as they embark on day 5, the final leg of the race.
Traditional housing in the Timorese mountain country.
Not all the roads are paved and you will be crossing occasional river beds and washouts, so definitely a mountain bike required for this race.
Yes, you can.. Lots are friends are waiting here for YOU...
