PRIZE GUIDELINES (In addition to race rules)

The age of a rider for age category prizes will be their age on 28 August 2009.

Only riders who are citizens of Timor-Leste on 28 August 2009 are eligible for National Rider prizes

Teams consist of 4 riders.

For the team time for the results, the stage race time will be taken when the 3rd rider of the team crosses the finish line. (but see amplification for Mixed Teams below)

A mixed team must have a least one female rider, and at least one female rider must complete each stage.

If there is only one female rider in a mixed team and she is the 4th rider from the team to cross the finish line, the time for the results will be the time that the female riders finishes.

A team which DNF (does not have the required number of riders finish a stage) will have the individual rider times count for the overall competition.   Their team time will be the time of the last team to finish that stage in their category plus 1 hour.

An individual rider who DNF a stage will be awarded the time of the last finisher of their gender for that stage plus 1 hour.

All Prizes are cumulative.  For example, in theory, a Junior Female Timor-Leste rider in a team could receive all these prizes:

$2,000

for being the 1st placed Female Timor-Leste Rider

$250

for being the 3rd placed Junior rider

$800

for being the 4th placed overall Female rider

$500

as a 1/4 share of being in the 1st placed Female team

$500

as a 1/4 share of the 3rd placed overall team

$200

for coming 29th overall as an individual rider

Dili, 29 June 2009 - The vistas below await the competitors of the Tour de Timor. The race will be one of the most challenging of your life though the surrounding beauty and roaring crowds in the villages will inspire each rider to achieve their best and have a great time.

Some of the easiest terrain will be along the North Coast on Day 1.

The shepherds and rice growers will be amazed to see and support both International and National teams. You will cross this bridge at Laleia, which is 2/3rd the way to Baucau.

Beautiful Mountain views like this will be both cruel and kind on Day 2.

After completion of day 3 why not take a dip in the ocean at Betano to freshen up?

The many signs of Timorese struggle for Independence are evident throughout the country.

Dili - 25 June 2009, Timor-Leste National Riders are training hard for the Tour de Timor. Timor-Leste riders combat hill climbs with relative ease.

A Timorese competitor negotiates the mountain passage near Aileu during the 'Ride for Peace' race from Maubisse to Dili held in November 2007. The accustomed Timorese riders smashed International opposition taking out the top 9 places.

Little Jose from Manatuto says "bring it on" to International riders!

The stunning Maubisse Church will greet riders as they embark on day 5, the final leg of the race.

Traditional housing in the Timorese mountain country.

Not all the roads are paved and you will be crossing occasional river beds and washouts, so definitely a mountain bike required for this race.

Yes, you can.. Lots are friends are waiting here for YOU...
