Really, Really want to enter as a contestant - any late cancellations....

But will volunteer - I'm 58 yo. Done lots of MTB events - Done Tasmanian Wildside 2 times. Have no time requirements. Lots of Day events so have reasonable knowledge of events - but never been on organising side. Visited Timor in 1978. Travel a lot so can stay anywhere etc. Would love to bring my own MTB bike etc.
Just back from a month in Thailand so wasn't aware of race - have mate already entered spo just found out about it.

Pleas let me know if there is any chance of entering...

Travel and medical insurance – these many not be within the same policy when competing in a cycle race TdT.
To some Insurance companies the meaning of participating in a cycle race with prize money – even though you may not expect to win or finish in the top group – your will be seen as a taking part.
In 2009 I found that Australian Travel Insurance Companies would insure me for all times outside the TdT dates – However, I would need to arrange other insurance as a participant in the TdT .
This was expensive to have two insurance covers.
In the end I went with Bupa International- almost no restrictions and will cover you for all times on your trip including as a participant in the TdT – well known firm in Europe.

Read the disclosure very carefully of any travel insurance – Ask the “what if questions”. Research the Travel Firm as being reasonable.

Foot note – With one Australian Travel Insurer there is even a grey area of definition for when you are a participant – My wife who was a support crew was seen as a participant.
